Junior Staff Accountant

Join a growing team dedicated to development and management of energy infrastructure, community economic development, corporate social responsibility, safeguarding environmental resources, and sharing in the growth of a highly ethical and competitive, privately held company.  This is a full-time position based out of Advanced Power’s Boston office. 

Responsibilities:

Reporting directly to the Director, Finance and working closely with the Manager, Accounting, the candidate will be responsible for day-to-day accounting and operational functions for Advanced Power’s US and European corporate entities as well as entities in the development business. Core duties will include:

·      Daily accounting and operational responsibilities 

o   Accounts payable and receivable

o   Experience with consolidations and intercompany eliminations

o   Cash management

o   Intercompany activity

o   Assist project teams and other accountants when required

·       Weekly / Monthly activities  

o   Weekly check runs in NetSuite and banking system

o   Ensuring proper approvals are received timely

o   Travel and expense reporting

o   Assist with internal controls documentation and adherence to the company’s policies and procedures

o   Full monthly general ledger close

o   Bank reconciliations

o   Work with the team to establish and release monthly accruals

o   Fixed asset management

o   Involvement in the preparation of budgets and prepare variance analysis and explanations of actuals to budget

o   Preparation of partner reports on development projects

·       Heavy support for all audits performed by independent auditors 

 

Qualifications:

  • One to three years of related experience or relevant course work. Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in accounting (CPA is not required). E
  • Efficiency in excel, skills for reporting and analysis are required
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask
  • Must be highly organized and detail-oriented
